Longarm Quilting

Rates

Price per square inch;

I charge 3 cents per square inch for all designs.

Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .03 = $144.

I do not have a thread fee.

Minimum charge

My minimum quilting charge is $50. This means that a small quilt or table runner's square inch price will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.

Batting

I use and stock my favorite Quilters Dream batting in the 80/20 cotton/poly blend, and 100% poly.

I have I also have Warm and Natural 100% cotton and Hobbs 80/20 Heirloom Premium cotton/poly blend.

I will order other fiber varieties of Quilters Dream batting like Dream Orient or their Green option (made with recycled plastic) for you if given enough lead time.

Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price.

Binding Service

I attach your ready to go binding you bring to me to your quilt and you finish the binding yourself.

I attach your ready to go binding to the front of your quilt and finish by hand stitching to the back of your quilt.

Thread

I stock So Fine (#50), Omni and OmniV (#40) threads. I don't charge any extra fees for thread use.

My personal style attempts to match or blend thread color with the lighter areas of your quilt. But this is YOUR quilt! Let me know if you have a preference on thread color.

The thread I use on the front of your quilt will be what I use on the back or something very similar in color and tone.

Photography

I'm not a professional photographer but I do my best to take "nice" photos with my "good" camera! :) Upon completion of the quilting, I will take photos of your quilt and then text/email you those images to use however you would like. I'd just ask that you credit me for the photo and/or quilting if posting publicly. This extra service is included in your square inch price.

Shipping

Shipping your top and backing to me: I live in Connecticut, USA, and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. I'd recommend sending your materials enclosed in some sort of sack or bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly. Once you have filled out the intake form I will contact you with further information.

Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $50 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to buy any additional insurance on your behalf. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while with the Postal Service, but I don't require it.

Other Costs

As mentioned above, batting is not included in the square inch price.

I'm required by the State Connecticut to collect tax for the cost of the batting purchased from me. There is no tax for the quilting portion.

If you are mailing me your quilt top from another state and I am sending it back to the same address I am not required to collect sales tax.
